Why we started Rootcode Foundation?
Rootcode Foundation, our impact initiative, is built on the belief that real transformation begins in schools. We are here because we learned technology at the right time and learning technology has changed all our lives. But not everyone gets the same opportunities, resources, or exposure. Through Rootcode Foundation, all of us at Rootcode are going to help underprivileged students in Sri Lanka learn technology and change their lives.
We also know that real change takes time. Through our Primary Programme, we adopt one school each year and commit to it fully for the whole year. And through our Bootcamp Programme, we extend our reach to schools beyond our year-long model, delivering high-impact technology education over a focused weekend.

How we make a difference
- Through our Primary Programme, we commit an entire year to a school, visiting once a month to teach children all about technology.
- Through our Bootcamp Programme, we deliver focused, high-impact technology education to schools over a single weekend.
- We conduct comprehensive teacher training, equipping educators with the digital skills to build upon our efforts in the years to come.
- We initiate a scholarship fund, and our generous Rootcoders join hands to support deserving students to achieve their dreams.
- We build a modern computer lab consisting of essential resources to enhance the learning environment.
- We roll out our Smart School software to help schools digitize day-to-day administration and ease the workload for teachers.

At the start of every year, we carefully select schools to support through our Primary and Bootcamp Programmes. As an integral part of this process, we welcome nominations from the community to help us identify schools that need it most.
We are on a mission to change lives and shape the future of underprivileged kids in Sri Lanka with technology education.
